My name is Riccardo Ferrari and I’m a cabinet maker here at Halstock for three months.

I’ve been a maker for years in the surrounding areas and Halstock for me was always a sort of pinnacle, thex best of the best.

There’s loads of jobs currently running that are going here then everywhere. We’ve just done a big kitchen in Hong Kong and it’s just really inspiring that a nice and local company like Halstock in a small village can reach these areas, America, Asia, Middle East, it’s amazing.

“It’s amazing what you can really do with what a piece of timber and the processes you do to take it from a piece of timber to a piece of fine furniture.”

The teamwork, the organisation and just how well everybody gels, it’s an amazing operation. It’s really interesting to learn everybody else’s techniques, everybody has different ways of doing things and it’s great to bring it all together and work together. You’ve got all the right people around you to get the very best out of you. Everybody just wants the best out of you.

One thing I’ve kind of noticed, and it’s also why I took the job, is everyone takes pride in their work. Some of the jobs that are running here, you’re very lucky to take part in.

My name’s Lewi Smith and I’ve been at Halstock for 15 years. I joined here when I was 18 years old.

Finishing ranges from the staining, lacquering, priming, painting, all aspects of it, even going up to high gloss and polishing. We make the furniture into incredible pieces of art.

I enjoy working at Halstalk because we’ve got such a fantastic team. It’s been built over many years and we’ve created something that not many other companies have. You wouldn’t ever get to work on these projects in any other company.

“I just find it enjoyable to be able to experiment with different stains, different resins. It’s fascinating to be able to come up with something which no one else can achieve.””

We work on the best of the best. We don’t do anything substandard or second best. Every project we work on, we work on it until it is perfect. We won’t do anything less. I’ve been here 15 years and that must be a statement to how good it is.
